Crochet – joining motifs and starting stitches
Try out a different way to start a row in treble (English) / double crochet (US) that will bring about a less obvious starting point in your motif. Then try a few different joining methods for motifs.
Duration: 4 hours
Max participants: 6
Prerequisite skills: Please be able to recognise and crochet the basic crochet stitches. This is not for anyone who can’t use a crochet hook already.
Workshop cost: $70 ($60 tutor fee + $10 kit fee) – payable directly to tutor
- Ball of yarn
- A crochet hook suitable for the yarn
Supplies required by participants: Scissors.
Please advise the tutor when booking if you are bringing your own hook and yarn and therefore do not require a kit.
Boho peyote lariat
This is a very relaxed design that will form into your own individual piece. Starting with a peyote strip that will take on a zig zag appearance.. The focus on the necklace is a bead embroidered double sided pendant, this can be as simple or ornate as you like. Then you will finish off the piece with basic wirework components and carnival glass.
Duration: full day
Max participants: Six
Difficulty: Beginner. Wireworking portion is very basic. Bead embroidery and peyote are suitable for anyone who can thread a needle.

- 2 aluminium sublime printed shapes
- Carnival glass and glass accessories
- Brass wire
Supplies required by participants:
- Bead mat
- Wirework tools if you have them
- Portable light and glasses if required
If you prefer not to buy a kit, you will need to bring seed beads in size 11 or 8 for peyote, seed beads is various sizes and colours to surround your pendant, 2 similar shaped objects for bead embroidery, wire in 20 gauge, accent beads with holes large enough for the wire to pass through. Please advise tutor at time of booking if you will be bringing your own supplies.
