Workshops with Helen Tolhurst
Bead embroidery with shibori ribbon
Bead embroidery is a form of beading where beads and other embellishments are sewn onto beading foundation to create a small piece of art which may or may not be wearable.
It provides the artist with the opportunity to create a unique design using a variety of beautiful beads and other materials including fabrics such as silk shibori ribbon.
In this workshop you will design your very own piece which could be a brooch, pendant , necklace, cuff or small framed picture. Even if you have never designed an artpiece before you might be surprised at how easy design can be using basic design principles.
Then, using some exquisite materials and basic bead embroidery stitches you will begin work on creating your piece.
Participants may choose to either workshop (Saturday or Sunday), or both!
Participants attending only one workshop will probably not complete a piece during the workshop unless it is very small but will be shown the techniques required to complete the piece in their own time.
This workshop is suitable for anyone from beginners to experienced beaders.
